DOSBARTH GLAS
Year 4 and 5 Learning
In our Year Four and Five class, children continue on an exciting journey of discovery and growth. We focus on helping children develop the confidence to work more independently, think creatively, and approach challenges with curiosity. They explore a diverse curriculum through purposeful topics that provide real-life, authentic learning experiences while continually developing their numeracy, literacy and digital competence skills. Our hands-on approach, enriched with outdoor learning opportunities, helps to make learning meaningful and engaging. By taking ownership of their learning, children cultivate curiosity, resilience, and a love of knowledge that will serve them well throughout their education and beyond.

NURTURE CLASS
Welcome to our Nurture Class
At Roch School, we are proud to offer a dedicated Nurture Class, designed to provide pupils with the time, space and support they need to flourish.
The Nurture Class is a calm, welcoming and supportive environment where children are given the opportunity to develop their social, emotional and learning skills in small groups. This unique provision helps pupils to build confidence, resilience and independence, enabling them to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Children in our Nurture Class receive individualised support that is carefully tailored to their needs. Within this calming space, they feel valued, listened to and supported, which allows them to grow in confidence and self-belief. They learn essential skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving and self-regulation, all while developing a stronger sense of emotional wellbeing.
The focus of the Nurture Class is to celebrate each child’s achievements, no matter how big or small, so that they develop a positive self-image. This, in turn, provides them with the strong foundations they need to succeed across the curriculum and beyond.
Our Nurture Class is more than just additional support—it is a place where children can truly grow, develop and shine. By placing wellbeing at the heart of learning, we enable pupils to return to their mainstream classes happier, more confident and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges.
Parents often tell us how much of a difference the Nurture Class has made for their child, both in school and at home. We are delighted to see children leaving this provision not only with new skills, but with a renewed sense of confidence, resilience and joy in their learning.

DOSBARTH GWYRDD
Croeso i Ddosbarth Gwyrdd
Our class a mix of year 5 and 6 learners, who are curious and enjoy our learning.
As we are the oldest in the school, we have chance to take on different responsibility such as House Captains and Librarians, which is a great way to develop our confidence, teamwork and leadership skills. We are proud to be role models for the younger children.
During the year, we focus on developing as effective, independent learners which ensures the transition to secondary school is as smooth as possible. We have a strong emphasis on being the best we can be, developing both academically and personally.
In our class, we encounter lots of thought-provoking topics, where we can question and challenge in a non-judgemental environment. The variety of topics help us to make sense of ourselves, our rich culture and the wider world in general. We also have lots of fun!
Our teachers provided us with inspiring and authentic opportunities that make our learning relevant to our everyday lives and this helps us to develop the skills we will need, not just in school, but in life.
