September 17 Newsletter

September 2017 Dear Parents,
A warm welcome back to all pupils and parents – whether this is your first year of being involved with the Roch School family or if this is the last year of many !
By now you will have received a letter from your child’s teacher explaining what the children will be learning this term, the class timetable, and other arrangements. I am sure the children will have an exciting, busy and productive few months.
If you are unsure of anything or have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher or myself.
All of us at school are grateful for your continued support.

Carl Evans (Head teacher)

End of day/going home arrangements (A reminder)
It is very important that all children know their home time arrangements every day. If these are different to normal please inform the school by letter, email or phone. If arrangements change during the day please phone the school so you can be sure your message has been received and can be acted upon.
If home time arrangements are different to normal and the school has not been informed or if a child is unsure of their home time arrangements they will be kept in school where they will be safe and can be collected later in the day.

Staffing changes
Mrs. Jenkins will now be teaching dosbarth porffor for 3 days a week. We are pleased to announce the governors have appointed Mrs. Vicki Brace (an excellent highly experienced teacher) to teach the rest of the week. Mrs. Brace will begin her duties next week.

Parent Governors
We currently have vacancies for 2 parent governor—letters will be distributed next week.

Rugby tickets
Llanelli scarlets have given the school 8 tickets in the family stand for their forthcoming matches against Connacht & Edinburgh. Please contact school if you wish to use them.

School Houses
We have decided to introduce a fourth “house”. In order to avoid the potential difficulties for children moving houses who have spent their school life in one of the 3 “island” houses we have decided to start from scratch. Pupils will be asked to suggest possible names for our 4 new houses – ideally something with a connection to Wales or Pembrokeshire. The staff will then choose one of the suggestions. We know the island houses have been popular with pupils and parents alike but feel this is the best way of solving the problem of increasing pupil numbers, and also the imbalance of pupil numbers within the houses. We will ensure that all pupils from the same family will be placed in the same new house.

Fruit and nuts!
Fruit is available for children to buy at break time for 30p – we seem to be wasting a lot of fruit which obviously is a waste of money – if this continues we will unfortunately have to stop running the shop.
As we have a pupil in school with a severe nut allergy we operate a blanket ban on ALL nuts and products containing nuts—can all parents adhere to this please .

Clubs
All clubs will run from September 25th. If your child wishes to attend a club/s please can you indicate on the slip below and return to school- spaces for all clubs are limited and places will be given on a first come basis. All clubs finish at 4.10pm when children are to be collected from the hall door.
If any parents or grandparents have a particular interest that they would like to offer as an after school club we would be delighted to here from you !
